As for me, last year my friend was suggesting me to apply for a part time job, since that she was accidentally found an advertisement for a part time job as French lecturer at Segi College. I applied for that job online, and I dont' have to go to Segi College, give my resume and so on. We live in a technological age and everything is getting easier, thus, my application process for that job also has become simpler. A week after I sent my application, Segi College has called me and ask me whether I am interested to do a part time at their place and I said, my pleasure.

I do the job for 3 months, and to me, its a new experience to teach French at other institution outside KPTM. Technology has bringing to a better life and it has let us live in as simple way as we want. Therefore, no more worrries to all fresh graduates out there. You can apply for job at anytime, anywhere and anything that you want to do, because technology is with us.

E-FES?

Assalamualaikum wbt everyone. How are you doing? Hope everything is good. Here is another system that I want to share with you, based on my experience of using it. Have you heard about E-FES? Yes, E-FES. A system that developed by Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) in order to facilitate customers to check their loan statement. I got to know about E-FES on 2011, when I was dealing with PTPTN officer regarding to my loan status.

The officer has told me that  there are numbers of payment method that I can use in order to pay my PTPTN loan. She suggested that I pay my loan through online, which its faster than paying at the bank counter or post office and the charge is cheaper.

This system can be found on PTPTN website, and I just click to the E-FES tab, then it will bring me to the site. Before that, I have to register my account with E-FES (shown in the image below), and then only I can view my loan statement and make payment.

The following image is the example of loan statement that can be viewed on E-FES.
(source : https://forum.lowyat.net)

In order to make payment, there are 5 financial institution which are Hong Leong Bank, Bank Islam, CIMB Bank, Maybank, or Public Bank that link to E-FES, so that we can choose which bank that we want. As for me, I only have a CIMB Bank account, so I choose CIMB to pay the amount.

By using E-FES, it helps me to save my time in order to make payment for my PTPTN loan because it can be done through online, plus, I can always update the balance of the loan. What else I can say? This is an awesome part in my life. Merci beaucoup PTPTN!

VIDEO CONFERENCING

Assalamualaikum to all. While writing this entry, I still remember 4 years back when I was doing the video conferencing for my final year project. In order to finish my study, I have to do a final year project in collaboration with students in France, since that I am doing French language for my degree.

The project require me and my friends to produce a product that can be used in France, and at thaty time we have decided to produce a 2 in 1 coat. Lets check the video below that tells about the manteau (coat).

So, how was the video? I hope its interesting and you will enjoy it. We have to create a video in order to promote our product, and we must published the video on Youtube. Okay, now we get back to our topic which is about video conferencing.

According to Wikipedia, Video conferencing (VC) is the conduct of a video conference (also known as a video conference or video teleconference) by a set of telecommunication technologies which allow two or more locations to communicate by simultaneous two-way video and audio transmissions. It has also been called 'visual collaboration' and is a type of group ware.

Video conferencing differs from videophone calls in that it's designed to serve a conference or multiple locations rather than individuals. It is an intermediate form of video-telephony, first used commercially in Germany during the late-1930s and later in the United States during the early 1970s as part of AT&T's development of Picture phone technology. Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), the place where I did my degree, has a special unit called IDEC that handle about video conferencing and any other IT matters.

In order to do the video conferencing,  we have to go to IDEC and when we reached there, we have to wait for our turn before we enter the room and start the video conferencing. The image below show how the video conferencing works and the toolscan that connected to each other in order to make sure the video conferencing can be done.

In the room where we did the video conferencing, there are microphone, a big screen to see the person we want to talk to, and also a camera. The room is quite big. The conversation is really similar to the Skype conversation, which is one of social media site that allow us to have a video conversation with our friends. But the difference is, when we have a conversation through Skype, sometimes the video is not smooth and sometimes it seems to be a delayed while viewing the video. Compared to the video conference that we did 4 years back, it was really amazing, and we can see clearly the person that we conversed with, and it was like a face to face conversation, not through the video. The video was very clear, run smoothly, the conversation was going smoothly without any problem. Its an awesome experience for me and my course mates. We were really enjoyed the day! Thank you so much to you TECHNOLOGY! Merci beaucoup!!

My Rapid Card

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh everyone. So, how are you today? Hope that all of you are fine. Today, I will share with you about the picture above. Have you seen it before? Are you familiar with it? If you are one of the LRT, monorail or Rapidkl passenger, then I am sure that you know what is the function of the card as in the image above.

In the picture above, its called MyRapid pass or card. This card is used when we want to take RapidKl LRT, monorail or Rapid Bus to go to work or anywhere. Instead of buying the token everytime I want to take the LRT, I prefer to have this card because its easier rather than queue up to buy the token. The image shown below is the token that I talked about.

As you can see up here, the token is small and its size is similar to 50 cent coin. I could lost it anytime because its to small. Moreover, to get this token, I have to queue up at the machine provided and this token can only be used once. Compared to the Rapidpass, it can be used as long as the pass still has enough amount to pay the LRT, monorail or bus fares.

LRT
Monorail

Bus

The pass is also easy to be reloaded. At the train station, there are numbers of machine have been provided for passenger to buy the token or to reload their Rapid pass. Usually, I will reload my pass around RM10 or RM20. When I reach the train station, I just have to swipe my pass to enter the platform. No more waiting at the machine to get the token.

In the image below, there are steps on how to reload the Rapid pass. Its really easy guys. The process takes about a minute, and voila, your pass has been reloaded.

This pass can only be access for transport under RapidKl company such as LRT, Monorail and RapidKl buses. You only have to bring one pass, but, you can pay for three different fares for three different transports. Its really good and effective. No more worries.

MERCI BEAUCOUP SMARTPHONE! (Thank You Smartphone!)

Assalamualaikum to all, bonjour tout le monde and hi everyone. So, how are you today? Hope that everything is good. Today, I would like to share and to tell you that how lucky I am when smartphone has been produced few years ago. As you can see up there, I have put some pictures of smartphone from ASUS brand, and the model is Zenfone 5. I am using this kind of model for the meantime, and to me, this is one of the best phone I ever had. The picture shown below is the model of my previous phone, and it is just a normal cellphone and does not have the new technologies as the smartphone has in it.

My current phone

My previous phone

As you know, there are a lot of applications in a smartphone that can make our life easier compared to the previous time. As for my phone, there are a lot of applications installed such as WhatsApp, Google, Gmail, Waze, TripAdvisor, FB Messenger, Polaris Office and MySolat.

All of these applications have helped me a lot especially in terms of connecting with people, communicate with family and friends, finding location, to book hotel and also to do my work that need to use Office's software. With smartphone, my life getting better from day to day, besides, I could save some of my money when it comes to the necessity to connect and communicate with people at one time.

Without the advanced technology that we have today, it is impossible to have all the facilities as what we have today. So here, I will explain about some of applications that I have make my life getting easier.

1. Whatsapp

What is Whatsapp? According to Wikipedia, Whatsapp is a proprietary cross-platform instant messaging client for smartphones that operates under a subscription business model. It uses the Internet to send text messages, images, video, user location and audio media messages to other users using standard cellular mobile numbers. Whatsapp Inc was found in 2009 by the two of former employees of Yahoo, Brian Acton and Jan Koum.

I have used this application for more than 2 years, and I found that, there are a lot of improvements in this application such as, we can know whether the message that we sent to another user have been read or not, we can also send our voice message if we feel lazy to type the text, and we can also call our friends or family by using Whatsapp call, which is free and there is no charge at all. Plus, we can also having a group discussion through Whatsapp, since Whatsapp provide a group chat for its users. By creating a group, we can add our friends and family into the group that we created,so that, we can discuss and solve any matters in a short time. Thus, this application is very useful and helpful to us.  Merci beaucoup Whatsapp!!!

2. Gmail

Gmail application is awesome! That's all I can said everytime I checked my mail. But, why do I say so? As for me, Gmail is well organized, has an interesting preview since I can change the background of the site, user friendly, and its easy for me to compose new mail. Besides, I could know if there is an important message for me by looking at the label of the message as in the image shown below.
If I receive any new mails in my Inbox, the mails will be divided into 3 parts which are   i) primary, ii) social, and iii) promotions, as shown in the image. Therefore, my Inbox will be looking more tidy and systematic. What type of mail that conttain in the primary, social and promotions part?
As for the primary part in my Inbox, all mails or messages that been sent were from my friends, colleagues, CIMB Clicks to tell about anything that related to my account, PTPTN and also from P1 to remind me about my Internet bill. Meanwhile, in the social part, there are messages from the social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to notify me about new updates from my account. As for the third part in my Inbox which is promotions part, there are mails from websites that I subscribed such as Air Asia, CIMB marketing, P1 careline, The Body Shop and Booking.com regarding the new products or any new promotions from them.

3. Polaris Office

Polaris Office is one of my favorite applications. It's easy to get this application. Just downloaded it from Google Play Store applications, and its free. No charge fees. By having this application in my phone, its easy for me to view any document or files in Word format, PowerPoint and Excel through my phone.

I don't need to open my laptop or desktop just to open those documents. Besides, I could also do some changes on those documents by using my phone. Its getting easier nowadays, right?

4. Waze

Last two weeks, me and my family went to Hospital Melaka to visit my uncle. but unfortunately, I was not familiar and don't even know how to get there, although my hometown is in Melaka. So sad, right? Haha.

Suddenly, I remembered that I have an application that could help me to find a location at anytime, and it's name is Waze. Yes, Waze. I'm sure that all of you have heard about it, and for sure each of us has installed this useful application in our phone. This application is very useful and helpful, and you dont' have to worry if you are alone while finding the location by using Waze. thisis because, Waze provide a voice that will give you an instruction on which way you have to go such as turn left, turn right, exit left, keep right, and many more. All the instructions are easy to understand.

One more thing, Waze will try to find routes that uncrowded to make sure that you can reach the destination in a short time, besides you don't have to face the traffic jam. Waze could also estimate time and duration for you to reach your destination. Sounds interesting, right? Those things are what I love about Waze. Thank you so much Waze!
